Abstract

This study aims to find out the Implementation of Character Building of Class XII High School Students in Bandung by considering aspects of system, educators and school environment based on the elements of efficiency, productivity, effectiveness, relevance and appreciation of the character formation program of learners. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive research. Discussion on the implementation of character development of learners there are four main points resulting from cultural habits (culture) schools, namely: (1) cultural insight quality education (quality) for learners in academic and non academic activities; (2) religious culture includes: morning prayer before and after lesson, liturgy (Mass together) once a month, spiritual assessment according to the religion of each student; (3) a culture of discipline, both for educators (teachers) and learners; and (4) a culture of behavior (tatakrama), respect for parents and caring for the young, promoting religious values, honesty, tolerance, discipline and responsibility in the form of routine activities (teacher picket tasks, student pickets, flag ceremonies, ), spontaneous activity (advise, admonish and assist incidental activities), exemplary, and conditioning (environmental hygiene, school cleanliness, class cleanliness, etc.). Obstacles in the implementation of character education is still limited to some teachers' knowledge of character education, heterogeneous learners make it difficult for schools to determine the values ​​of characters that must be developed. The conclusions and suggestions put forward by the authors include: (1) For principals, teachers at Santa Maria 1 and Santa Maria 2 High Schools of Bandung, in particular, generally high school in Bandung, must apply character education into syllabi, RPP, and methods, media and evaluation techniques used in teaching and learning activities. (2) For schools, instill character to learners while outside the classroom should be done more intensively, through reprimands / sanctions to learners who violate the rules and through the development of new programs to shape the character of learners, including ongoing supervision.
